Mumbai: A video circulating on social media has raised concerns about public safety, showing a loose wire cable dangerously hanging from a bridge on the Western Express Highway in Goregaon East. The clip, reportedly captured in front of Oberoi Mall, highlights a potential hazard as vehicles pass through the area during peak traffic hours.
Video Shows Wire Hanging Dangerously
In the footage posted on X (formerly Twitter), the wire can be seen hanging from the bridge as vehicles make their way during busy traffic hours. A couple of vehicles can be seen dashing the clinging cable and moving forward. Meanwhile, a huge web of cables can be seen at the top, on the bridge.
The video was shared by X user Sunil Sharma, who tagged the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai Traffic Police and Mumbai Police, urging authorities to take immediate action before any mishap occurs.
Mumbai Police & BMC Respond To Viral Video
Acknowledging the viral post, Mumbai Police responded by tagging the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd (MSEDCL) and requesting them to resolve the issue. However, as of now, MSEDCL has not issued an official response regarding the matter.
The BMC also took cognisance of the viral video assuring necessary action into the matter. “We regret your inconvenience. We have intimated BMC Ward P South to attend this,” read the response by the civic body’s official X handle.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Traffic Police added their bit of assistance by informing the concerned traffic division about the issue. “We have informed Traffic Division for the necessary action,” said Traffic Police in its response on the viral post.
The viral video has sparked discussions online, with citizens questioning the state of urban infrastructure and road safety measures in Mumbai. Many have urged local authorities to conduct regular inspections and maintenance to prevent potential accidents.
