Motorist Rams Car Into Cop During Nakabandi In Goregaon East; Dindoshi Police Initiates Search | Pinterest

Mumbai: A man rammed his car into a police officer while driving in the wrong direction in Goregaon East on Tuesday. The incident occurred when the officer tried to stop the car during a nakabandi. The officer, identified as Sub-Inspector Sankhe, was injured but is now in stable condition.

The nakabandi was set up between 11:00 pm on March 18 and the early hours of March 19 near Lucky Restaurant on a bridge in Goregaon East, as per a report by The Times of India.

The police observed a car driving in the wrong direction and signalled the driver to stop. However, the motorist tried to escape, striking Sub-Inspector Sankhe in the process. The officer was given medical attention and is now in stable condition. Authorities are examining CCTV footage to track down the vehicle and its registration details. An FIR has been filed under applicable sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act as per the report.

Meanwhile, Uran police have filed a case against a 24-year-old lifter machine operator after a tragic incident at a freight shipping container yard in Uran on Wednesday midnight, which resulted in the death of a 64-year-old watchman. The victim, identified as Eknath Ragho Patil, was killed instantly when a lifter machine ran over him.

Patil, who was on duty at the time, was in the yard at Khopta in Uran when the accident occurred. The lifter machine was being operated by Mohammad Aslam Jaish Mohammad Khan, a 24-year-old from Uttar Pradesh, who was moving containers when the incident took place. Khan told the police that he failed to see Patil due to poor visibility in the yard.
