South Superstar Mohanlal’s film ‘L2 -Empuran’ made a great opening of Rs 21.50 crore on the first day of its release, but on the second day, there was a huge decline of 45% on the second day. On Saturday, the film’s collection came down to Rs 11.75 crore, which has made the total earnings of Rs 33.25 crore so far.

Slow earnings despite high rating

Despite getting a rating of 6.4 on IMDB, the film is not performing as expected. The film is the prequel of Mohanlal’s blockbuster ‘Lucifer’, which the audience was eagerly waiting for. The film was appreciated for tremendous action and high-scale visuals, but the decline in box office collection is proving to be the opposite of trade experts.

Did trade experts guess wrong?

The film was being described as a shor-shot hit at the box office and claimed that it would take out its cost before release. However, the initial figures are indicating that the film audience does not like ‘Lucifer’. Apart from Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Tovino Thomas also played important roles in the film.

Released in five languages, Malayalam version leads

‘L2 – Empuran’ has been released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. The best response is being received by the Malayalam version, while in other languages its performance has been average. Now it will be interesting to see if the film will be able to strengthen its hold in the weekend or not.
