L2 Empuraan starring Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran took a bumper opening at the box office with a collection of Rs. 21 crore (all languages). It got the highest opening for a Malayalam movie. However, soon, the film got embroiled in a controversy as people on social media started calling it an anti-Hindu movie. Well, it was expected that on its second day, Empuraan will show a drop and that has happened.

According to Sacnilk, the movie on its day 2 has collected approx. Rs. 11.75 crore which is like around 44% of drop from its day 1 collection. Just like first day, even on day 2, the major collection has come from the original Malayalam version. It collected Rs. 10.75 crore, and other Rs. 1 crore came from the other languages.

So, in two days, L2 Empuraan has collected Rs. 32.75 crore. The film needs to be stable at the box office on Saturday and Sunday to cross the Rs. 50 crore mark over its extended weekend. However, if it shows a good jump we can expect it to cross Rs. 60 crore mark as well.

L2 Empuraan is a sequel to the 2019 release Lucifer which was a hit at the box office. It was one of the most awaited sequel, and the day one collection proved that. A lot of films do show a drop on its day 2, especially if it is a working day. So, now all eyes on the weekend.

L2 Empuraan Collects Rs. 100 Crore

According to the makers, the movie has collected Rs. 100 crore at the worlwide box office in two days. The production house posted about it on Instagram, “The Cicada himself. #L2E #Empuraan surpasses 100 crore at the box office worldwide in less than 48 hours, setting new benchmarks in cinematic history. A heartfelt thanks to all of you for being part of this extraordinary success! Your love and support made this possible.”
