Mohanlal starrer L2 Empuraan was released on Thursday. The film, which is directed by Prithviraj Sukumara, received mixed reviews from the critics and the audiences. However, a Mohanlal fan named, Abhijith Radhakrishnan Nair, is very upset with the veteran actor and the movie’s content as according to him L2 Empuraan shows Hindus in a negative light. The fan has shared multiple tweets on X in which he has slammed Mohanlal and Prithviraj.

He wrote, “The Day My Heart Broke at the Theatre I’ve always called myself a hardcore @Mohanlal fan. Not just a fan an admirer, a worshipper of his art, his screen presence, his humility. His films have been my escape, my joy, and my pride as a Malayali and as a Hindu. So naturally, March 27th was a date I had circled in my heart. The day Empuraan would hit the theatres. I walked into the hall with excitement coursing through my veins like every other time a Mohanlal film released. The lights dimmed. The familiar rush of anticipation filled the air. I leaned back in my seat, ready to be enthralled. But what followed in the next fifteen minutes shattered me (sic).”

Fan On Portrayal Of Hindus In L2 Empuraan

Nair further wrote, “The film begins with a disclaimer “All characters and incidents are fictional.” But then comes a scene from 2002. A Muslim village being burned down. Amid the chaos, a little Muslim boy crying out for his father only to be brutally beaten to death by a Hindu man. I sat frozen. My heart pounded, not with thrill, but with confusion. The scene changes. Some of the Muslim villagers, terrified and bloodied, seek shelter in a Hindu home. But instead of compassion, they’re met with horror. Hindu men, supposedly their saviours, turn into beasts. And in the most gut-wrenching moment, a Hindu man is shown raping a pregnant Muslim woman. I felt sick. Not because the scene was intense but because of what it was trying to say. Why? Why this portrayal? Why this narrative? (sic).”

He revealed that the film shows that a political party merges with a pro-Hindu one, and it is depicted as ‘catastrophe threat to Kerala’s culture and ethos’. The villain from the political party declares that Kerala’s 600 km coastline can be used for smuggling drugs.

Fan Questions Mohanlal And Prithviraj

Nair wrote, “What was @PrithviOfficial trying to prove? And more painfully why was @Mohanlal a part of this conspiracy?”

The X user feels that the movie is ‘a carefully crafted piece that paints Hindus as savages, nationalists as villains’. He further posted, “I walked out of that theatre with a heavy heart and trembling hands. A part of me still couldn’t believe what I had just watched. Mr @Mohanlal these hurts. This is betrayal.”

The fan further wrote about Prithviraj’s political leanings and ideologies.

Last Mohanlal Movie

Nair has written that this is last Mohanlal movie that he is watching. “And I say that with a lump in my throat. I never imagined that the man I adored would be part of a film that demonizes the very faith I was born into. That subtly mocks the people I call my own,” he added.

Nair Tags Prime Minister Narendra Modi And BJP In His Tweet

He wrote, “That slanders the leaders I trust @narendramodi , @BJP4India , and every Hindu who dares to speak up. Let the world remember this Hindus have never been the instigators of riots. What has happened in the past has always been a reaction to relentless provocation and cowardly attacks from those who claimed a holy cause. And yet, you’ve chosen to paint us with the darkest of brushes.”

“Mr. @Mohanlal , you’ve stooped to a level I never thought possible. You let your name, your legacy, and your art become a weapon against your own people. Shame on you. Today, I didn’t just watch a movie. I watched my faith, my beliefs, and my fandom burn just like that village in your film,” Nair added.

Empty Theatre Picture

L2 Empuraan has taken a bumper opening at the box office by collecting approx. Rs. 22 crore on day 1. However, the fan shared a picture of an empty theatre and wrote, “And from those ashes, rose a heartbreak that I’ll never forget. See for yourself! the theatre was completely empty.”

Rajinikanth Fan Also Complains

Replying to the tweets of Nair, a Rajinikanth fan wrote, “I can empathize with you brother. Rajini, of whom I was a hardcore fan of, acted in a similar propaganda film Vettaiyan. Empuraan seems to be much worse. If these actors betray our trust, we must stop supporting them blindly. Kudos to you for sharing this openly.”

Mohanlal’s fan replied to him and wrote, “In all respect brother, nothing above nationalism. The national consciousness of Bharat is Hindutva.”

We wonder if Mohanlal or Prithviraj will give any clarification on this.
