Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat was on a four -day visit to Varanasi. Can Muslims join the RSS?
Mohan Bhagwat arrived at a branch of RSS in Lajpat Nagar Colony, Varanasi. In the program, he interacted in detail on issues like environment, ethnic discrimination, economy and social harmony. During this, a volunteer asked him if Muslims could also join the RSS?
What is the condition?
In response to this question, Mohan Bhagwat said, “All Indians are welcome in the branch, but there is a condition – the person coming to the branch should not hesitate to speak Bharat Mata ki Jai and honor the saffron flag.”
He also added that the ideology of the Sangh is based on the culture and values of India, and is not discriminated against any religion, caste or sect.
Culture is not different, only religion is different
Mohan Bhagwat further said that people of different religions live in India, but the culture of all is the same. He said that people of all castes, religions and communities are welcome in every branch of RSS, provided they accept and respect the cultural values of India.
Meeting with scholars in Kashi
A day before this program, on 5 April 2025, Mohan Bhagwat also held a meeting with Vedic scholars in Kashi. During this time, he emphasized the idea of making India a “world guru” and said that for this, everyone will have to work unitedly.
