Mumbai:  A burglary at a posh apartment in Lower Parel’s India Bulls Sky Forest has left residents shocked, as a model’s flat was looted of cash and gold worth ₹15.3 lakh while she was away visiting her hometown in Hubli, Karnataka.

About The Case

The N.M. Joshi Marg police have registered a case and launched an investigation, utilizing CCTV footage from the building and surrounding areas to trace the culprits. The victim, Nikita Nil Barad, resides alone in apartment at the India Bulls Sky Forest complex. Originally from Hubli, Karnataka, Barad had left for her hometown on December 12 with her younger brother, Ankit.

She returned on January 9 around 9 PM, only to discover the theft the following day. Upon checking her cupboard, she found that gold jewellery and cash were missing. The burglary, believed to have taken place during her absence, raises questions about security lapses in the high-end complex, which has guards on duty. Police suspect that the thieves, aware of her prolonged absence, took advantage of the empty flat.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS Act. Senior officers have taken serious note of the incident and ordered a detailed inquiry. Crime Branch teams are assisting local police in analyzing CCTV footage to identify the suspects and expedite their arrest. Authorities are also questioning domestic workers and staff for possible leads.
