New Delhi: Mock drills were organized in several districts of India amid missile attacks on Pakistan, in which how to protect citizens in the event of air or missile attack from the enemy country. In addition, to avoid night attacks, the lights were also studied on keeping the blackouts closed. Especially in big cities and other cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, lights were closed at night. Mock drills were held in most selected cities after 4 pm.

On Wednesday, under the mock drill, lights were closed and black out in major cities across the country, especially in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Patna, Jaipur, Gwalior, Surat etc. where there was darkness at night. While siren was played to warns citizens in selected districts. In addition to the blackout, a mock drill was organized keeping in mind all the conditions, in which if a citizen is injured during the attack, how to evacuate him from the building, what to do to extinguish it when a fire broke out, if a school is targeted, what should the students do for their safety, and the process of hospitalization in the hospital in an emergency.

About 244 districts were selected for mock drills across the country, out of which Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chandigarh etc. were selected as civil security districts. The maximum number of 32 districts of Bengal, 28 in Rajasthan, 20 in Assam, 20 in Punjab and 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Mock drills were also organized at some major religious places of the country, such as Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. The last such mock drill in India took place during the 1971 war with Pakistan, after which such mock drills were seen for the first time across the country. Blackout was seen in most cities after 7:30 pm. In some states, electricity remained closed for 10 minutes, while others in half an hour. The purpose of this mock drill was to train and increase awareness about the safety of citizens in an emergency like war. Students, police including security forces, common citizens, firefighters, hospital-railways employees etc. participated in it.
