Mumbai – Civil Defense Mock Drill will be held at 16 places in 10 districts of Maharashtra on Wednesday. A senior civil protection official said that according to the instructions given by the Union Home Ministry, civil security, National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Home Guard personnel will participate in the mock drill. Siren will be played at 60 places in Mumbai at 4 pm, after which there will be a blackout -like situation.
The mock drill will be held in ten districts, each of which will be held in Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Raigad, Jalgaon, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Palghar districts.
The Union Home Ministry has directed Mumbai, Uran, Tarapur, Thane, Pune, Nashik, Roha-Nago Thane, Manmad, Sinar, Thal (Alibag), Pimpri Chinchwad, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Bhusaval, Raigad and Sindhudurg to organize mock drills.
Tarapur nuclear power plants, Roha-Nagathane and Uran’s industrial areas and densely populated areas like Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Pimpri Chinchwad are sensitive.
Sirens will be played at various places at 4 pm, after which the mock drill will start. An official said that civil protection will be supported by the district administration, fire department and paramedical staff. He said that the purpose of mock drill is to educate people about security and precautionary measures during a situation like war or war.
After the siren ringing in Mumbai, the entire Mumbai Municipal Corporation system works in an emergency. Will have to deal with a situation like war in a different way. For this, fire fighting personnel and hospital doctors, nurses and other employees have been specially trained. As soon as the siren of Mumbai will be alerted by the emergency room, the fire brigade, police, hospital, railway, best and other government agencies will be alerted.
If a missile attack is actually on Mumbai and many people are injured, ambulances will be deployed at major places in Mumbai to save them, and it will also be seen whether fire fighting vehicles can reach the spot in the shortest time. Keeping in mind the patients coming out of the hospital, the entire team of doctors and other staff will be deployed outside the hospital. In particular, adequate medical supply including oxygen will be prepared for the treatment of injured in municipal hospitals and private hospitals.
Civil protection volunteers have been trained as to how to prepare everyone in emergency, how to provide first aid, how to treat the injured, and how to transport people to a safe place. He said that people should not panic.
Dean of a government hospital in Mumbai said that we are ready for this exercise. Mock drills will be held in Council Hall in Pune and municipal offices in Panchayat Samiti, Mulashima and Telgaon. Army, Air Force, Police, Fire Department, NDR F, Revenue and Health Department, Municipalities and District Administration will participate in this exercise. The collector told reporters that students of various colleges, members of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and NCC cadets will also participate in this exercise.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the Railways conducted security exercises on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT, Kurla and other major stations). Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP) and Dog Squad participated in the mock drill.
Mock drill in Tarapur today due to nuclear plant
As a part of the nationwide mock drill, mock drill rehearsals and training will be organized in the open ground of Vijay Colony, in front of Tarapur Nuclear Power Employees Colony, within the boundary of the Salwar (Boisar) Gram Panchayat tomorrow.
The mock drill will start after the state government indicates an air strike.
A mock drill has been jointly organized by the National Disaster Management Authority and the District Disaster Management Authority on 14 May from the security point of view of the Tarapur nuclear power project. Along with studying the steps to be taken in emergency at the Tarapur nuclear power plant, a separate practice will be conducted later to test the coordination of various government departments in such a situation.
