Gas distribution company Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) has hiked the retail price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Pune city by ₹1.10, starting from 12am on Saturday. The new rate is ₹89 per kilogram, up from the previous rate of ₹87.90 per kg.
In its release, MNGL said, “MNGL has carefully made a decision keeping the interests of its valued customers in mind. The steep rise in imported natural gas prices and market-based gas supply posed a major challenge for MNGL. However, MNGL remains committed to providing value and sustainability to its customers. In order to balance operational efficiency and affordability for customers, MNGL has taken a portion of this increase on its own. As a result, the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Pune will see a marginal increase of ₹1.10 per kg, inclusive of excise duty and state VAT, which is about 15% of the total increase. This change demonstrates that MNGL prioritises both customer interests and gas supply integrity.”
“Even with this marginal increase, CNG is still the most economical and environment-friendly fuel compared to petrol and diesel. In Pune, CNG is more than 40% cheaper than petrol and more than 20% cheaper than diesel, proving that CNG is both an eco-friendly and cost-effective fuel for vehicle owners,” it added.
“MNGL’s focus remains on customer satisfaction, infrastructure quality and environmental sustainability. Through continuous investment and strategic planning, MNGL is committed to providing cost-effective, reliable and green energy solutions to the city of Pune. MNGL expresses its gratitude to its customers for their trust and understanding and strives to create a sustainable future in the face of global challenges,” it further added.
