Severe Bus Shortage In Nashik: MLA Seema Hiray Demands 300 New Buses Ahead Of Simhastha Kumbh Mela |

With the Simhastha Kumbh Mela approaching, Nashik west MLA Seema Hiray has sought the immediate provision of 300 new buses for Nashik to address the growing shortage.

At present, only 750 buses are currently operational in the Nashik division after around 300 buses becoming obsolete in the last seven years. This has led to severe inconvenience for passengers. This situation could worsen during the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela, she added.

The district’s citizens have been clamoring for more services because of the dwindling number of buses. MLA Hiray responded by meeting with Transport Minister Hiray to discuss the matter. In her comparison of Nashik’s bus services in the past and present, she pointed out that 1,050 buses were in service in the division as of 2018. However, approximately 750–800 buses remain in operation after 300 were permanently deactivated owing to wear and tear.

Bus availability has drastically declined despite an increase in passengers, especially students. Daily commuters are being impacted by this shortfall, which may cause serious transit issues during the Simhastha Kumbh Mela. In order to help passengers and guarantee efficient public transportation in the district, MLA Hiray requested the Transport Minister to act right away.
