The Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police has issued orders to extern (tadi-paar) two notorious goons restricting their entry from the limits of Thane, Palghar, Mumbai (city) and Mumbai (suburban) for a period of two years. DCP (Zone I)- Prakash Gaikwad and his counterpart from Zone III-Jayant Bajbale issued the orders in accordance with the provisions under the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951 externing-Salman Qureshi (29)- and Firoz Pauji (52) respectively.

While Salman has six serious offences including- peddling drugs, assault and crime against women registered against him at the Kashimira police station, Firoz has been booked by the Nallasopara police for an equal number of offences such as assault, smuggling and slaughtering cattle. Despite arrests and warnings, the duo failed to mend their ways, following which officials from the Kashimira and Nallasopara police stations tabled the externment proposals before the concerned DCP’s.

Convinced that their presence was a potential threat to the society, the DCP’s issued the orders. However, section 60 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951 allows an appeal against externments before the divisional commissioner (Konkan division) within 30 days after the receipt of the orders.
