Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A minor youth from a minority community has been taken into custody by the police after he allegedly threatened Hindu leader by posting a threatening message on social media in Jabalpur.

The threat was issued against a religious leader Jagadguru Swami Raghav Devacharya with a threatening message, saying, “sar tan se juda.”

The threat was made on social media, and police traced the boy through his Instagram account.

The boy is currently being questioned at Madan Mahal police station. Police have also launched a search for his friends who may have been involved.

Around 15 to 20 Instagram accounts are being checked in connection with the case, and nearly two dozen accounts have been placed under surveillance.

According to police sources, the boy and some of the other suspects belong to a minority community. Senior officers are personally interrogating the minor to understand the full extent of the case.

Swami Raghav Devacharya had reportedly received the threat during a protest where he had joined Hindu groups. The protest was held against disrespectful comments made by some youths about Hindu gods and goddesses on social media.

During the protest, the Swami had claimed that some boys from the minority community tried to throw pieces of meat at women observing Navratri fasts. He also said that there were attempts to pull women into cars as they were on their way to temples.

Police are continuing the investigation and are actively tracking all those involved in making threats or spreading hate online.
