Madhya Pradesh Political Punch: Minister Reprimanded, In Trouble, Religious Rites, Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahaan…! & More | FP Cartoon

Minister reprimanded

A minister in the state cabinet has received a dressing-down from the party’s central leadership. The minister recently went to the national capital for some work and met a few senior leaders of the BJP during his trip. A senior politician reprimanded the minister for the irregularities in his department. The minister was clearly told to plug the loopholes and keep the department corruption-free.  The minister made all efforts to put his side, but the BJP leader did not listen to him.  The minister even tried to say that he had no control over his department. But he was told that being the minister of the department, it was his responsibility to stunt the cases of rip-off. There are reports that the minister is feeling sad after receiving a dressing-down from the central leadership.  Now, he is in a bind.  He thinks that on the one hand, he is not getting any importance in the department. On the other hand, the central leadership gave him a ticking-off on corruption.

In trouble

A minister may look relaxed from outside, but there is a storm inside him after the raids of Lokayukta. The person, on whose residential premises raids were carried out by inquiry agencies, was close to the minister.  But the person concerned does not have any evidence that can cause troubles to the minister who is taking feedback on all the developments connected to the case. Through his close aides, the minister is trying to know the action being taken by the agencies.  The minister is scared thinking lest his connection with the man go public.  There are reports that the BJP’s central leadership has got all the evidence about the case. The proof the BJP leadership has indicates that the minister was associated with the person on whose residential premises raids were carried out. When the government was formed, he was not admitted into the cabinet. His name was not on the list of probable ministers. Just as the names were to be finalised, a senior leader of the ruling party used his clout, and he was given a berth in the cabinet. In the coming days, whenever there is a reshuffle in the cabinet, the axe may fall on him.

Religious rites

The Bharatiya Janata Party is doing exercises to elect its state unit president. Those who are aspiring for the post are not only meeting the senior leaders of the party but also performing religious rituals to please stars and planets. There are reports that an aspirant for the post is organising religious events to shoo away evil spirits from the way of his becoming the party’s state unit president. A large number of Pandits have been invited to perform religious rites to woo gods to ensure his election to the post. Apart from that, he has been offering prayers in various temples for the past several days to achieve the goal. The leader is confident that the impact of his efforts will yield results. Similarly, another politician is performing religious rights to win the race for the post of the party’s state president. A few days ago, an astrologer told the politician that his good time would begin after January. Ergo, the politician wanted the election to the post of party’s state president to take place after January. It may take place in the current month. Thus, the politician is performing rituals to woo stars and planets in his favour.

Tere jaisa yaar kahaan…!

A rift between two once-bosom friends who have been associated with the Congress for a long time is visible these days. A while ago, these two old chums used to support each other, but the situation has changed now. At a meeting, they were seen arguing with each other. When one of them suggested that those who had switched over to the BJP should be allowed to return to the party. But his friend set aside his suggestion, saying that the issue could be discussed later. Both these leaders did not agree with each other on some other issues, too. Their relationship soured after the assembly election, but now, the chasm between them has become wider. Both of them have begun to support two different politicians who are leading the party in the state. On the contrary, some old hands in the Congress say nobody should be involved in the fight between these two leaders, for it is difficult to discern when they would come together again.

Behind the scene

A leader in the state BJP who has been keeping mum for a long time has recently met some senior politicians. On the heels of his interactions with some party leaders, a few politicians are trying to make out the significance of such interactions. It is, however, claimed that the meetings were related to invitations to a wedding ceremony in the family. It rarely happens that two politicians meet and do not discuss politics. These meetings have caused tension to the party as well as to the organisation. The implications of this meeting can be estimated in view of the turmoil going on in the government and the changes taking place in the organisation. The former minister met this politician in Delhi in the evening on the same day he interacted with two leaders in Bhopal. All these meetings heated up the political atmosphere in the state. BJP leaders are eager to know about the changes that are likely to take place in the state party unit. So, everyone is using his clout to reach the goal.

Just rite

Politicians are rarely seen making payment to anyone from their wallets, but the head of the state has a different way. Rather than counting on his cohorts to make payment on his behalf, he pays the shopkeeper on his own whenever he buys any item.  People initially thought he did so for photo ops. But now, they have realised that paying for every article he buys is his habit. Once he used to take out his wallet from pocket and make the payment. On many occasions, he was seen doing this. But, with the passage of time, he has also changed his habits with the passage of time. And now, he pays a shopkeeper through UPI using his mobile phone. During his recent trip to Brij, his photograph making digital payment went viral, but a few politicians, who follow the head of the state in other aspects, have yet to pick up this habit of his. Whenever such leaders buy an article in a shop, they just look for their accomplices to make the payment on their behalf.
