Maharashtra Minister and BJP leader Nitesh Rane on Thursday made a sensational claim in connection with the Disha Salian death case. Speaking to media in Mumbai, he claimed that former Maharashtra chief minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray had called his father Narayan Rane asking him to save his son (Aaditya) in the matter.

Responding to the opposition’s allegation that the case has been reopened for political gains, he said, “This is not a political allegation. Is her father also lying now?… Yesterday, Kishori Pednekar said that her father was asking for money…There should be a case registered for putting such allegations on her father. If Uddhav Thackeray thinks we are all making political allegations, why did he call Rane Saheb and say, ‘save my son in this matter?’ He called Narayan Rane twice and requested him to save his son…”

The controversy surrounding the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian has reignited political debate in Maharashtra after Satish Salian, the father of the deceased, filed a fresh petition in the Bombay High Court, seeking a new probe into her tragic death in 2020. In his plea, he urged the court to register an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and to transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Earlier today, speaking to media persons, Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske called for a serious probe into the matter saying, “Disha’s father has stated in his petition that he was being pressured, and much of the evidence was hidden. He took the names of people like Ekta Kapoor, Dino Morea, and Aditya Pancholi and asked for their phone records to be checked.”
