News India Live, Digital Desk: Michael jackson biopic: The release date of Michael Jackson’s biopic ‘Michael’ is expected to be postponed by 2026, according to the report of the variety. It is being directed by Antony Fuke.
During Lionsgate’s Q4 2025 Income Call, CEO John Flatmeimer shared an update on the film starring Jackson’s nephew Jafar Jackson, playing his first screen role in the project.
The financial calendar is ending on 31 March 2026, so Fialtheimer’s statement indicates that films (or films) will probably be released after 1 April 2026.
Last month, the variety had reported that the film would probably be divided into two parts and its release date would be extended from October 3, 2025.
According to Flatheimer’s statement, the film is likely to be released after 1 April 2026, as the financial calendar of 2026 ends on 31 March.
The much awaited ‘Michael’ was a major part of the previous year’s Lionsgate Cinemacon presentation, however, no footage of the project was shown during this year’s event.
The film is produced by Graham King of “Bohemian Rapsodi”. According to the Variety report, the film’s main photography was completed in May 2024, but John Logan’s script is being revised before shooting again.
‘Michael’ stars Coleman Domingo and Nia Long family heads Joe and Catherine Jackson, while Miles will play the role of John Branka, lawyer and advisor to Jackson.
Larange Tate will play the role of Berry Gordi, founder of Tate Motown Records, while Laura Harrier will play the role of leading female music executive Suzanne de Pasa and Kat Graham will play the role of famous Diana Ross.
According to the Variety reports, other actors of the film include Michael’s elder sister La Toya Jackson, Live Simone as Gladis Night, Kevin Shinik in the role of Dick Clarke, Jackson’s former security personnel from Jackson’s former security personnel and Bill Bill became the role of Bill and Kalin Durle Jones and Industry Principle included Kalin Durlee Jones. Hai, who first met Michael Jackson when he was just 12 years old.
The pair collaborated in Michael’s three most successful albums: 1979 “off the wall”, “thriller” of 1982 and “bad” of 1987.
