The Konkan Housing and Area Development Board of MHADA has launched a comprehensive campaign to boost the sale of flats under the First-Come, First-Serve (FCFS) scheme for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Low-Income Groups (LIG), and Middle-Income Groups (MIG).
These flats are available under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-Urban) in Virar-Bolinj, Khoni-Kalyan, Shirdhon-Kalyan, Gotheghar-Thane, and Bhandarli-Thane. To provide detailed information and assist applicants with the online application process, 29 stalls have been set up across various locations from December 2 to 11, 2024, informed Revati Gaikar, Chief Officer, Konkan Board.
Gaikar stated that the stalls will provide information about the FCFS flats available for sale, application eligibility, and the online registration process. The official MHADA website (https://lottery.mhada.gov.in) is being used for applications. Flyers and street plays are also being organized to inform the public about the housing schemes. Online application registration for these flats began on October 11, 2024.
Stating that MHADA has received over 10,000 applications for close to 14,500 apartments under PMAY and open lottery, Gaikar said, “We are currently scrutinizing the applicants and if need be we might extend the deadline to file the applications which is December 10 as of now.”
MHADA’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Anil Wankhade, urged applicants to take advantage of these initiatives, which are part of MHADA’s efforts to sell unsold flats across Maharashtra, as per the directives of MHADA Vice-President and CEO, Sanjeev Jaiswal.
Stalls have been set up at the head offices of municipal corporations in Vasai-Virar, Mira-Bhayandar, Ulhasnagar, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli, Thane, and Palghar. They are also available at the district collector offices in Palghar and Thane, the Thane RTO, and subdivision offices in Vasai, Ulhasnagar, Palghar, and Kalyan.
Additional locations include the tehsildar’s office in Ambernath, the Mahape MIDC administrative office, and prominent public spots like Jivdani Devi Temple in Virar, Virar Church, Vasai Church, and major railway stations such as Virar, Vasai, Thane, Badlapur, Ambernath, Ulhasnagar, Vashi, Panvel, Dombivli, Karjat, and Kalyan.
Each stall is staffed with a Konkan Board representative providing comprehensive information about the schemes, eligibility criteria, and the online application process.
The staff also assists with document requirements and resolves application-related issues immediately. A dedicated team at the MHADA office is available for coordination.
Mahesh Jeswani, MHADA’s Chief Engineer, stated that all projects include essential facilities like 24-hour water supply, firefighting systems, lifts, and common areas. Besides, sewage treatment plants and organic waste converters are also available in every housing complex.
