Indore (Madhya Pradesh): MGM Medical College honoured 600 doctors and 1,600 students from the 2014-2022 batches with the Academic Excellence Award. The event, delayed by six years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, saw students from across the nation participate, making it a grand celebration of academic and professional achievements.
Over 1,600 medals were distributed across various categories, with the prestigious MGM Blue Award being conferred upon top-performing doctors from different batches, including Dr Muskan Chandak (2014), Dr Geetika Gaikwad (2015), and others. Cabinet Minister Tulsi Silawat, who presented the awards, commended the recipients, emphasising their responsibility to serve the underprivileged and uphold the ideals of healthcare.
“This moment will remain etched in your hearts for centuries,” he remarked, highlighting Indore’s excellence in health education. The RP Memorial Award, accomp.ed by a cash prize of ?1 lakh, was awarded to Dr Jai Mehta (2015), Dr Sakshi Kumar (2016), and Dr Soumya Bhagat (2018). A poignant moment was observed when Dr Pranjal Vyas, a topper from the 2022 batch, was honoured posthumously. His aunt accepted the award, her tears a mixture of pride and grief. A minute’s silence was observed in his memory, reflecting the enduring impact of his achievements.
The programme, divided into four sessions, featured eminent personalities, including Padmashree Dr Arun Dabke and former dean Dr Sharad Kumar, as chief guests. Dean Dr Sanjay Dixit and org.sing committee chairman Dr Ankur Maheshwari expressed their gratitude to the attendees. Recipients travelled from across the country, with Dr Jai coming from Chandigarh and Dr Geetika from Mumbai. Dr Muskan from Burhanpur, the first doctor in her family, shared her pride in her journey. The event concluded with a collective resolve to continue striving for excellence in healthcare.
