Jammu, 3 December (Hindustan Reporter). Senior BJP leader Sanjay Kumar Badu met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and submitted a detailed memorandum demanding comprehensive development of Shri Shivkhodi shrine and its surrounding areas to promote tourism in Reasi district. The memorandum stressed the need to execute the long pending passenger ropeway (cable car project) as per the approval of 2013 by Shri Shivkhori Shrine Board (SSKSB). He said the project would secure future income for the pilgrimage board and significantly increase tourist access.
Addressing employee welfare he demanded a comprehensive regularization policy for SSKSB employees, especially those approaching retirement so as to ensure job security and fairness. Badu proposed creating a new tourist circle Shivkhodi or expanding the jurisdiction of Katra Development Authority to include major religious and tourist places like Dera Baba Tirth, Sihar Baba, Kalika Temple, Baba Dhansar and Nau Deviyan. He said the move will enhance infrastructure, boost tourism and create employment opportunities for residents of Reasi and Rajouri districts.
The memorandum also considered the possibility of merger of SSKSB with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) to streamline the management of Shri Shivkhodi Tirtha and promote overall development. He reiterated that these initiatives will not only boost tourism but will also improve the livelihood of the people of the area thereby making Reasi a major religious and tourist centre.
