Road transport in India is one of the most critical modes of transport. Indian roads are generally not considered to be one of the safest around the globe. This is supplemented by the fact that the country saw 1.73 lakh road accident fatalities in 2023.
Dangerous Driving In UP
In an incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, a video has surfaced that underlines the basic lack of concern for safety on Indian roads.
In a video that was posted on X, a man can be seen driving a Mahindra Thar car through the roads of Meerut. Now, one may not see or make anything out of the ordinary, but the distinction here is what the driver chose to do before that.
Earlier in the video, a man can be seen loading a significant amount of mud after getting it dug from a field and placing the heaps atop his car roof.
In the video, the car can then be seen plying on the street with heaps of dusty mud flying all around only to endanger lives of fellow motorists, and dirtying roads as well. This dust can be spreading on to other drivers and vehicles on the road even as he drives the car at a high speed. The vehicle carried the registration number of UP 15 ED 9276. UP 15 is the registration number for UP’s Meerut region.
Police Responds To Video
The X user who posted the video on the platform tagged major influential handles of Uttar Pradesh administration in the post.
The Uttar Pradesh police responded to the post. Replying to the very post, the UP police’s official handle alerted the Meerut Police administration and urged for immediate action.
The Meerut Police handle responded to this post and the Traffic police was directed to take necessary action.
This is severe case of negligence, as the country witnessed average daily deaths of 474 people died on average per day. In addition, a staggering 4.63 lakh people were injured in 2023.
