Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh woke up to sunshine in some districts, while clouds in others, i.e. similar weather prevailing in the state for the previous days. However, the state will experience cold in the coming days due to the fading impact of cyclone ‘Fengal.’
The return of sunshine on Thursday has raised daytime temperatures. At present, Bhopal, Guna, Narmadapuram, Ujjain, Khajuraho, Mandla, Seoni, and Umaria recorded highs above 30°C, with some places like Mandla and Narmadapuram crossing 31°C.
For now, the weather remains stable with minor fluctuations. Night temperatures may fall slightly, but daytime temperatures will stay above 26°C. Over the past two days, the state has experienced mixed weather—warm days and nights with temperatures rising by 6 to 8 degrees.

What do meteorologists say?
According to IMD Bhopal’s meteorologist VS Yadav, a Western Disturbance is going to get activated in the coming days which will bring rain to these areas.
While temperatures will drop significantly at night, rainfall is expected in the eastern regions, including Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions.

Weather in next 2 days
Similar conditions will continue till December 7. However, once rain hits the eastern divisions, cold winds will intensify in regions like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, and Chambal, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures.

Northern Winds effect Gwalior-Chambal most
Strong northern winds, moving at 240 km/h at an altitude of 12.6 km, are currently affecting the Gwalior and Chambal regions the most. These cold winds have caused night temperatures in these areas to plummet. As these winds descend to lower altitudes, the cold will spread further across the state.
The effects of Cyclone Fengal, which caused cloudy skies across the state, have subsided. Sunshine returned on Thursday, raising daytime temperatures. For instance, Bhopal, Guna, Narmadapuram, Ujjain, Khajuraho, Mandla, Seoni, and Umaria recorded highs above 30°C, with some places like Mandla and Narmadapuram crossing 31°C.
Temperature records
On the intervening night of Wednesday & Thursday, temperatures fell below 12°C in 13 cities, including Gwalior (11°C). Shivpuri’s recorded the lowest at 9.7°C. Major cities like Bhopal (13.8°C), Indore (17.1°C), and Jabalpur (13.2°C) also experienced chilly nights. The weather department predicts fluctuating conditions for the next 15 days.
Severe cold after December 20
Severe cold spells will begin around December 20 and last through January. During this period, 20 to 22 days of cold waves are expected, particularly in Ujjain, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions, due to icy winds directly reaching these areas.
