Pakistani actress Mahira Khan shared the screen in Rahul Dholakia’s 2017 film Raees alongside Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. While she frequently expresses her admiration for Khan in interviews, she often faces trolling from netizens who accuse her of using his name for attention. Recently, at the Aalami Urdu Conference 2024 in Karachi, the actress hit back at trolls.
During the conversation, Mahira said that whenever there’s an interview, she is always questioned about her working experience with Shah Rukh Khan. Mahira shared that she will never have enough of Shah Rukh.
“Mujhse koi puchta hai toh main uska jawab deti hun. Phir logon ko lagta hai ke main unke baare mein baat kar rahi hun. Main apne aap kabhi nahi baat karti unke baare mein,” Mahira shared.
During the event, the host asked Mahira about being trolled on social media, where many users accused her of using Khan’s name for publicity. To this, the actress said, “Mujhe yeh hota hai ke aap mujhse puchiye hi nahi unke baare mein phir.”
She also called Shah Rukh her “bachpan ka pyaar.”
Earlier, Rahul shared that Mahira was casted in Raees after Gauri Khan’s mother suggested her name. While speaking on casting director Mukesh Chhabra on his YouTube channel, Dholakia shared, “Gauri [Khan]’s mom had seen Mahira and my mother had seen her in some Pakistani television show. They both said: ‘Yeh ladki achi hai (This girl is good).’ Honey Trehan was casting for us. I called him up and asked if he knew Mahira. He said, ‘She is here in Mumbai for some promotional work.’ He then said, ‘I will bring her tomorrow, you can audition her for the role.’ We then auditioned her at the Excel office. After the audition, I declared, ‘I have found my Aasiya.”
