Mumbai: A fire erupted at the Silver Cinema Building in Grant Road (East) on Tuesday night. Swift action by fire officials helped contain the blaze within minutes, preventing further damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as the building was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

The incident occured in a closed theatre building on Khambatta street around 11 pm on Tuesday. The fire was confined to the second and third floors of the three-story structure, a closed cinema theatre building.

As per fire officials fire was confined to electric wiring, installations, tarpaulin sheets and other electrical materials within the premises. The fire officials along with police, BEST and civic ward staff, rushed to the spot.

The quick response by fire officials ensured that the fire was contained before it could escalate, minimising potential damage to the structure and nearby areas. The blaze was extinguished by 11:20 pm.

“The building has been closed for some time so there were no injuries or casualties. We are investigating the exact cause of the fire,” said a fire official.
