Aurangabad: Massive Fire At Mahavir Gharsansar Super Shoppe Burns For Two Days, Causing Rs 40 Crore Loss |

The Mahavir Gharsansar Super Shoppe in the Chelipura area caught fire on Sunday midnight, and the fire was so intense that it continued burning until Monday afternoon. Even by Monday evening, smoke was still rising from the debris. In total, 12 fire tenders from the fire brigade used 35 tankers of water to extinguish the fire. Preliminary estimates suggest that the damage could exceed Rs 40 crore. The cause of the fire is believed to be a short circuit. The City Chowk police conducted the panchnama of the fire incident.

Mahavir Gharsansar Super Shoppe is located in a three-storey building in the Chelipura area, near the Ganpati Temple. The shop is owned by Sumit Parakh and occupies an area of 120 square feet by 125 square feet. The shop sold all types of grocery and household items.

Fire broke out around midnight

The owner and employees closed the shop as usual around 11 pm and left for the night. However, around midnight, a fire broke out in the shop, and it quickly engulfed the entire premises. Flames were pouring out of the shop, and the area was soon filled with thick smoke. The security guard immediately informed the owner about the fire. The City Chowk police and the fire brigade rushed to the scene. However, the fire had spread extensively by the time they arrived. Firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the fire under control until Monday morning. Unfortunately, the entire three-storey building collapsed as the iron beams bent under the heat.

It is believed that the fire originated in the area where perfumes were stored and gradually spread throughout the shop. Additionally, around 1,500 drums of edible oil were also stored in the shop at the time of the fire. Expensive perfumes, oils, groceries, and other household items worth approximately Rs 40 crore were completely destroyed in the blaze. City Chowk Police Inspector Nirmala Pardeshi mentioned that the exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and an investigation is underway.
