Mark Carney will be the next Prime Minister of Canada. He will replace Justin Trudeau. The Liberal Party elected him its leader late last night. Carney received 95.9 percent votes. In the race for the post of Prime Minister, Carney defeated former Finance Minister Christia Freeland, former Government House Leader Kareena Gold and former MP Frank Belis. He will be the first Canadian Prime Minister without any cabinet experience.
Earlier, the current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed the party and supporters. He said, “Do not misunderstand me, I am proud of the work we have done in the last 10 years, but tonight is about our future as a party and a country.”
Trudeau said they should remain active. Your country needs you more than ever. Liberates will have to face this moment. This is a national decisive moment. Constant efforts are required for democracy and freedom. Therefore, it requires courage, sacrifice, hope and hard work.
Trudeau said that we should not focus on all the great things achieved in the last 10 years. Instead, we should be motivated to achieve more in the next 10 years and the coming decades.
