Sonhira Mitra Mandal Organises 20th Annual Marathon In Navi Mumbai To Celebrate Dr Patangrao Kadam’s Legacy | Sourced
On behalf of Sonhira Mitra Mandal, CBD, Navi Mumbai, a state-level marathon competition was organised on Sunday, January 5, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Patangrao Kadam, founder of Bharati Vidyapeeth.
This event has been held annually for the past 20 years under the guidance of Dr Vilasrao Kadam, President of Sonhira Mitra Mandal and Director of Bharati Vidyapeeth Educational Complex, Navi Mumbai.
The competition, themed ‘Run for Education,’ aimed to raise awareness about the significant contributions of Patangrao Kadam in the fields of education and healthcare. The marathon featured five groups, with a total of 5,650 participants.
Former Indian cricketer Jatin Paranjape inaugurated the event, with Siddhivinayak Trust Mumbai Trustee Rajaram Deshmukh serving as a chief guest. Both dignitaries, along with Dr Vilasrao Kadam, felicitated the winners and presented prizes to them.
In the men’s open group, Nilesh Harasekar claimed the first prize with a cash award of ₹20,000, while Sakshi Sanjay Jadyal won first place in the women’s group, earning ₹15,000. Pranav Santosh Shingare took the top spot in the boys’ under-19 category, receiving ₹15,000, while Sanket Subhash Nangre secured the first prize of ₹7,000 in the boys’ under-14 category. Aboli Nandkumar Vaske won first place in the girls’ under-14 category.
Participants from various districts of Maharashtra competed in the event, which was supported by the invaluable cooperation of the Kharghar and CBD traffic police. Additionally, all employees of the Bharati Vidyapeeth Educational Complex contributed significantly to the successful organization of the competition.
