Marathi actress Urmila Kothare was recently involved in an accident that took place in Kandivali, Mumbai, in the early hours of Saturday, police said. She was returning home after wrapping up a shoot on Friday when the accident took place. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and hit two workers who were engaged in Metro rail work under the Poisar Metro station in Kandivali East shortly after midnight.
One worker was killed, while the other was seriously injured. Urmila and her driver were also injured in the accident, an official said.
According to PTI, the official of the Samta Nagar police station said, “Kothare’s car hit two labourers who were engaged in Metro rail work under the Poisar Metro station in Kandivali east shortly after midnight. While labourer died, another was seriously injured. The actor and her driver were also injured in the accident. But they were saved as the airbags opened at the right time.”

Urmila’s life was saved as the airbag opened at the right time. However, her car, a Hyundai Verna, was badly damaged in the accident.
A case has been filed against the driver at the Samata Nagar Police Station for driving at high speed, and an investigation is underway.
Who is Urmila Kothare?
Urmila Kothare has acted in several Marathi films including Duniyadari, Shubha Mangal Saavadhan, and Mala Aai Vhhaychy!, among others.
She is married to actor, director and producer Adinath Kothare, who is the son of renowned filmmaker Mahesh Kothare. She met him in 2006, during the filming of Marathi film Shubha Mangal Saavdhaan.
The couple also has a daughter named Jija Kothare, born in 2018.
