Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir is under pressure in the initial stages of his coaching career. Under his supervision, the Indian team has faced defeats against Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Australia. Along with Gambhir, his coaching staff has also come under criticism. After the defeat against Australia, former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar questioned the abilities of Gambhir and his coaching staff and said that they should also be questioned before the upcoming tour.
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwari has created controversy by calling Gautam Gambhir a ‘hypocrite’. Tiwari believes that the kind of coaching that was expected from Gambhir, he could not fulfill it. He also criticized the selection of bowling coach Morne Morkel and assistant coach Abhishek Nair. Speaking to News18 Bangla, Manoj Tiwari said, “Gautam is a serious hypocrite. Doesn’t do what he says. The captain (Rohit) is from Mumbai, Abhishek Nair is also from Mumbai. Rohit has been moved forward. No one talks about players like Jalaj Saxena, even though he is performing well.”
He also said, “What is the use of a bowling coach? Whatever the coach says, Morne Morkel and Abhishek Nair will agree on the same. Gambhir knows that they will not go against his instructions.”
Manoj also raised questions on Gambhir’s contribution and said, “Gambhir alone did not win the trophy for KKR. Everyone did good together. Jacques Kallis, Sunil Narine and I also contributed to it. But who got the credit? There is an environment here which helps them to take all the credit.”
