Mumbai – Mango crop has suffered heavy damage due to bad weather, due to which the arrival of mangoes in the markets has reduced considerably compared to previous years. As a result, the prices of mangoes have increased so much that the common man has to be satisfied only by eating mangoes.

Last year, a dozen of Konkan’s famous Afus mango was priced at Rs 200 to Rs 1,000 in bulk and Rs 500 to Rs 1,500 in retail. At present, the wholesale price is Rs 300 to 1400 and retail price is Rs 700 to 2000.

Like Konkan, mango production has decreased in Gujarat and southern states. That is, prices have increased due to low goods in markets. In February last year, there was a large mango crop. Whereas in early March this year, 583 tonnes less mango has come in early year. Revenue reached 40,000 boxes in early March last year. This year, 20 to 25 thousand boxes of mangoes have arrived.

The high yield of Konkan’s Affus mangoes will continue from April 1 to May 10 for 40 days. Traders of Navi Mumbai APMC Fruit Market said that Badami, Lalbagh, Rajapuri and Saffron Mango as well as the arrival of Afus and Dussehri mangoes will begin after June.
