Now mere B.Ed degree will not be enough for teachers teaching in CBSE schools. CBSE has made 50 hours of training mandatory for teachers to make them proficient in every academic discipline and to enhance their capacity. This training program will be launched in 2025 and will involve more than 15 lakh teachers from more than 30,000 CBSE schools across the country.

Training objectives and program outline

The program to be launched by CBSE, which will be called ‘Training Intervention Framework and Solutions’ (TIFS), is designed to skill teachers in academic and professional skills.

  • Inclusion:
    • School Principals, Vice-Principals, Primary Teachers (Grades 1-5), Trained Graduate Teachers (Grades 6-8), Post Graduate Teachers (Grades 9-12), Counsellors, Coordinators, and Librarians.
  • In line with the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP):
    • This training program has been designed as per the instructions of NEP 2020, with emphasis on skill development and holistic development of the students.
  • Regular Training:
    • The board says that the training of teachers will continue as a continuous process.

50 hours training: Mandatory for teachers

CBSE has implemented this program as a 50-hour training for teachers and principals.

Major goals:

  1. To improve the teaching skills of teachers.
  2. Effective classroom management and communication with students.
  3. To enhance the talent and skills of teachers.

Training will be given in these subjects

Under the training program, teachers will be given training on more than 50 subjects. These include:

  • Classroom Management:
    • Ways to make the classroom environment better and productive.
  • Time Management:
    • To teach teachers to use time properly.
  • Wellness and Mental Health:
    • Paying attention to the mental health of students and teachers.
  • Career Counselling:
    • Ways to show students the right direction for their future career.
  • Value Education:
    • Inculcation of moral education and values.
  • Gender Equality:
    • Awareness on gender equality and inclusivity.

There are approximately 30,000 CBSE board schools in India, including:

  • 1,247 Kendriya Vidyalayas.
  • 5,280 government/aided schools.
  • 22,408 private schools.
  • 25 schools abroad.
