Indore: Man Held With Stolen Cash, Valuables Worth Rs19 Lakh; Brother On The Run | FPJ

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Two men, including a bullion trader were arrested in connection with a theft in a locked house in the Khajrana area, police said on Tuesday. The house owner along with his family had gone to attend the wedding of a relative when thieves entered the house and decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs 27 lakh.

According to DCP (Zone-2) Abhinay VIshwakarma, the theft took place in the house of Musharraf Ahmed, a resident of Scheme Number 94 on Ring Road on February 5 when the complainant and his family had gone to a marriage garden to attend a wedding on MR-9.

They had left the house around 8 pm and after a few minutes, the thieves broke in. They were captured on CCTV camera while entering and leaving the house. The incident was discovered at around 1 am when the family returned home. They found the lock of the main entrance broken and household goods in disarray.

Cash and valuables worth lakhs were missing from the almirah. The police had investigated the spot and a case under various sections was registered against unidentified persons. After this incident, some other thefts also occurred in the area, so a team was constituted to search for the criminals.

Khajrana police station in charge Manoj Singh Sendhav had sent the teams in civil dress and on private vehicles. The police managed to identify the accused and arrested a person on Monday. He was identified as Akram of Khajrani Kankad area, who allegedly informed the police that he and his brother Javed Pappan of Madina Nagar had committed the theft in the locked house.

Javed was on the run till the filing of the report. On the lead given by Akram, police arrested the bullion trader Sheikh Firoz for buying stolen jewellery from the accused. So far, gold ornaments worth Rs 16 lakh and Rs 3 lakh in cash have been recovered from the accused and a search is on for Javed.
