Man Held For Murdering 90-Year-Old Grandmother In Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat | Representative Image
Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh): The city police on Tuesday claimed to have unveiled the mystery behind the murder of a 90-year-old woman in Seoni Khurd village on March 7. The woman’s 34-year-old grandson Moolchand Nageshwar was arrested for committing the crime, the police said.
According to reports, when Moolchand was trying to steal money from her grandmother Subhadra Bai, she woke up. As soon as she saw him, Moolchand strangulated her to death. After committing the crime on the night of March 7, he threw her body on the Seoni Khurd Pala road.
The forensic team, called to the spot the next day, found blood stains in her nose, ears, and mouth. It confirmed that she was murdered. The evidence gathered during the inquiry led the police to believe that the woman’s grandson Moolchand was behind the crime.
The police took him into custody. In the course of interrogation, Moolchand confessed to having murdered his grandmother. He said to the police that another grandson of the woman Ayush, working in Hyderabad, visited his home on March 7.
He gave Rs 12,000 to Subhadra Bai. Moolchand had set his eyes on the money. Police station in-charge Ashok Namana said when Moolchand was being interrogated, he confessed to having murdered his grandmother.
Nasmana also said Moolchand had stolen a silver necklace worn by his grandmother. But when Moolchand was trying to steal the money, his grandmother woke up, he said. He murdered the woman for fear of being identified, Namana further said. The police recovered the stolen silver necklace and the money from the possession of Moolchand.
