Man Gets 20-Year RI For Raping Minor Girl

Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh): A special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) court has sentenced Raju Meda to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a minor girl in 2023. The court delivered the order on Saturday.

As per prosecution, the incident occurred on February 12, 2023 when the girl was left alone in a newly-constructed building, where her father worked as a watchman. Upon returning home, the father discovered his daughter missing and after extensive search in the vicinity and among relatives yielded no results, he reported her missing to the police.

The case, initially registered under Section 363 of the IPC, was escalated to include Sections 376(2N) IPC and 5/6 of the POCSO Act following the girl’s recovery. Second Additional Sessions Court Judge sentenced the accused to 20 years RI and also slapped a fine of Rs 5k.

Body Found Under Mysterious Circumstances

Udainagar (Madhya Pradesh): A man’s body was found under suspicious circumstances inside his home in Chandupura, Udaynagar. As per reports, neighbours heard noises on Sunday morning but found the door locked. When the door was opened, it revealed body of one Ratan Jalam (40).

Lakhan Meena, husband of the village sarpanch, informed Udaynagar police about the incident. Initial investigation noted no visible injuries on the body. Ratan was taken to government hospital for post-mortem, performed by Dr Anushal Kannauj, who confirmed the absence of injuries.

The viscera report was sent to Bhopal for further analysis. Ratan’s wife had left for her maternal home with their children the day before. A liquor can was found nearby and police discovered Ratan was an alcoholic, with no one else present at the time of his death.

Two Youths Sentenced To 7-Year RI Each For Scam

Susner (Madhya Pradesh): Two youths in Susner have been sentenced to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) each for committing fraud amounting to Rs. 4.9 crore. The convicts were identified as Mohammad Zubair and Mohammad Abdul Salam, both from Nalkheda.

A case was filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 420 and 467 based on complaint. The ordeal began when Abdul Razik lodged a complaint on June 20, 2020 against the accused for fraudulently selling land that was not theirs.

The investigation revealed that Zubair and Salam had entered into an agreement to sell two plots of land for Rs 4.51 crore. However, even after receiving the payment, they demanded an additional Rs 44 lakh for registration, which Razik paid in front of witnesses. Despite receiving a total of Rs 4.95 crore, the accused failed to fulfil their contractual obligations, leading to their conviction.
