Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A man from Tanda in Dhar district was arrested in connection with theft at a bungalow in the Simrol area, police said on Thursday. The thieves had recced the area before committing the theft. He is being questioned for his other accomplices.  

DSP (Headquarters) Umakant Chowdhary informed Free Press that the theft occurred at the bungalow of Suresh Deshmukh in Veda Homes under Simrol police station jurisdiction on November 17.

Thieves had fled with Rs 6.7 lakh from there. During the examination of CCTV and technical evidence, police found that the accused hails from Tanda area in Dhar district. A team was sent to Khanihamba village in Tanda that arrested Dinesh alias Dhirpia Dabar from his place.

First, he tried to mislead the police but later confessed to his crime. A sum of Rs 70,000 was recovered from him. Ongoing investigation revealed that Dinesh along with his other accomplices had recced the township posing as labourers in November. They had noticed that a woman resides alone during daytime in the bunglow and there were no grills on the windows of the bungalow.

On November 17, the accused managed to enter the bungalow and stole Rs 6.7 lakh in cash from there.  After finding the cash missing, Deshmukh’s wife informed him about the theft and they lodged a complaint. Police came to know that the accused was with his four accomplices and they had committed theft.

Information is also being gathered about other accused and efforts are on to recover the remaining stolen cash from them. DSP Chowdhary said that Deshmukh is an officer at a company in Pithampur and he was at his work place at the time of the incident.
