Mumbai: The J J Marg Police have registered a case against a man accused of defrauding seven youths of ₹8.75 lakh by promising them visas and jobs at a reputed hospital in Saudi Arabia. The accused, identified as Mohammed Abutalib Syed, allegedly deceived the victims by offering them lucrative employment opportunities abroad but failed to deliver on his promise.

According to the police, the accused assured the victims of jobs at a prestigious hospital in Saudi Arabia. However, instead of placing them in medical roles, five of the seven victims were given cleaning jobs at a poultry farm. After working there for a month, they were sent back to India, while the passports of the remaining two individuals were never processed for travel.

The complaint was filed by Mohammed Sayyadur Rahman Mohammed Abdul Hamid (41) at JJ Marg Police Station. As per his statement, he came in contact with Abutalib in November 2023, when the latter promised to arrange employment in Saudi Arabia. The accused claimed that a well-known hospital in the country urgently needed workers and that he could facilitate both visas and job placements.

Trusting him, the complainant and six others, including his two brothers, collectively paid ₹8.75 lakh for the process. Subsequently, five of them—Mohammed Sarim Ahmed, Rashid Ahmed, Mohammed Ismail Ali, Mohammed Jamaluddin, and Badruddin Farooq Ahmed—were sent to Riyadh. However, instead of being placed in the promised hospital jobs, they were forced to work at a poultry farm. After a month, they were sent back to India.

Upon their return, the victims realized they had been scammed, leading them to approach the police. Based on their complaint, a case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
