Mumbai: A man from Tardeo was duped of ₹1.60 lakh by an unknown fraudster who promised tickets to the Coldplay concert in Navi Mumbai. Following a complaint, the Tardeo Police have registered a case against the unidentified person and initiated an investigation. According to the police, the fraud was carried out through social media.

The complainant, Mafrin Jamshed Irani (38), a professional party planner, was eager to attend the Coldplay concert. He came across an Instagram story on January 17 at around 2 PM from an account named ticketseller_sagarchauhan01, which advertised ticket availability. Irani messaged the account and was quoted a price of ₹12,000 to ₹15,000 per ticket. He agreed to purchase three tickets and made an initial payment of ₹45,000 via a QR code shared by the fraudster.

Between 2 PM on January 17 and 2 AM on January 18, the fraudster manipulated Irani into making a total of five transactions, amounting to ₹1.60 lakh. Realizing he had been cheated, Irani approached the Tardeo Police and filed a complaint against the unknown individual.

The Tardeo Police have launched a search for the scammer and are investigating the matter further. Authorities have advised the public to exercise caution while purchasing event tickets through unverified sources online.
