Mandya: A 21-year-old man blew himself up with a gelatin stick on Sunday (December 29) after family of a minor girl he was in love with rejected him. The police told Press Trust of India (PTI) that the man blew himself up in front of house of the girl and died on the spot. The incident took place at Kalenahalli village of Mandya district.
Ramchandra, the now-deceased man, was in relationship with a minor girl. Ramchandra was also booked in Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). He spent three months in jail as an undertrial. After he was released from jail, he settled the case with the girl’s family.
However, he began to call the girl again and tried to continue the relationship with the underage girl.
PTI quoted a senior police officer who said that the girl’s parents were planning to get her married to someone else once she reached the legal age.
Ramchandra, who resided in a neighbouring village in Nagamangala Taluk, was upset with the family’s decision and the rejection he got.
On Sunday morning, he appear at the house of the girl with a gelatin stick. He lit the fuse and the explosion claimed his life on the spot.
A case of suspicious death has been registered based on complaint from Ramchandra’s family.
It is being reported that Ramchandra’s father is in quarrying business and that was how Ramchandra got access to gelatin stick.
