Indore: Man Arrested While Transporting Liquor Worth ₹4.43L To Dry State Gujarat | FP Photo

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Chandan Nagar police caught a man late on Wednesday while he was allegedly transporting liquor worth Rs 4.43 lakh to dry state Gujarat. The liquor was concealed under the packing of crockery items and welding wires in a mini truck.

The accused is being questioned for his source of liquor and the consignee of the same. The police believe that more people indulged in the crime. DCP (zone-4) Rishikesh Meena told media persons that a team of police, led by station in-charge Indramani Patel, was patrolling the area.

They received information that a Ujjain-registered mini truck was carrying liquor to Gujarat and the vehicle was parked near Kashyap Petrol pump.

The police team immediately reached the spot and caught the driver Sajid Mansoori, who tried to mislead the police saying he was carrying crockery items, welding coils, wires, etc.

During a search, police recovered liquor bottles in the cartons and bags in the vehicle. The bottles were kept in the boxes of crockery items and welding coils. The accused could not produce the permit or licence to carry liquor.

He was later taken to the police station and his truck, containing liquor worth Rs 4.43 lakh, was seized along with the truck, coils and wires, all worth Rs 20 lakh. The accused was booked under section 34 (2) of the MP Excise Act and he is being questioned for other people indulged in the crime.
