Mumbai: Mankhurd police have arrested Mohammad Sharif Mohammad Salim Sheikh, also known as Guddu, for obstructing police duties, misbehaving with a woman officer, using obscene language and issuing death threats. The incident occurred late Sunday night around 11:15 pm near Ekvira Hotel Road in PMGP Colony of Mankhurd.
Incident Took Place During Routine Patrolling
The complainant, a 30-year-old Police Sub-Inspector stationed at Mankhurd Police Station and residing in Navi Mumbai’s Koparkhairane, was on duty when the altercation took place, reported Lokmat Times. A special police team was patrolling the area when they noticed Mohammad Sharif running a footwear business despite restrictions in place. When officers instructed him to close his shop, he refused and started arguing with them.
Death Threats Given To Female Cop
His wife, Kajal, soon joined the confrontation, verbally abusing and pushing the uniformed officers. Despite repeated warnings, both continued their aggressive behaviour. During the heated exchange, Sharif reportedly directed obscene remarks toward the woman officer and issued a threat, saying, “Many police officers like you have come and gone. Don’t mess with me, or I will kill you.”
Accused Booked Under Several Charges Including Obstructing Government Work & Outraging Modesty
Given the escalating situation, the police used necessary force to detain both Sharif and his wife. Following the woman officer’s complaint, Mankhurd police registered a case against Sharif under multiple charges, including obstructing government work, using obscene language, outraging a woman’s modesty and threatening a public servant. After registering the case, police arrested Mohammad Sharif, alias Guddu. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
