Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Rajendra Nagar Police, on Thursday, arrested a man who was on the run after theft and threatening the house owner at gunpoint. The stolen goods worth lakhs of rupees were recovered from his possession.

Station in-charge Neeraj Birthare said that a woman’s house was burgled by a man in broad daylight in the Tejpur Gadbadi area on January 25.

The house owner, who was reaching home, spotted him and she cried for help. Then the accused threatened her at gunpoint and he managed to flee from the spot.

A case was registered against the accused and he was arrested from his place in the city. The accused was identified as Umesh Yadav, a resident of Dhangaon in Khandwa district. He was residing in a rented house in the Tejpur Gadbadi area for a few days.

The landlord didn’t give information to the police about his tenant so the police have also booked his landlord under section 223 of BNS. The valuables worth Rs 1.5 lakh and a country-made firearm were recovered from the accused. Police said that he was also involved in the battery stealing in Sanyogitaganj area a few months ago.

At that time, he was arrested with 8 batteries. He was involved in about a dozen crimes in the past.
