Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday stirred a controversy after she alleged that central forces allowed Bangladesh infiltrators to cross into her state. Pointing fingers at the Border Security Force (BSF). Banerjee said the border is in the hands of the central force.
“People are entering through BSF Islampur, through Sitai, through Chopra, we have news. Why are you not protesting? The border is in the hands of BSF,” Banerjee said
“If anyone thinks that they are intruding into Bengal and maligning the Trinamool, let them be warned that the Trinamool Congress does not do these things. Don’t abuse Trinamool by supporting the wrongdoings of BSF,” she added.
Mamata Banerjee’s Statement:
The West Bengal said that the it was centre’s “blueprint” to destabilise West Bengal. “They are sending goons. people are coming, killing and going back through borders. These type of people are being sent. This is inside works of BSF,” said Banerjee as reported by The Economic Times.
“This can’t happen without the blueprint of the central government. I have told the central government time and again that whatever you will do we will agree with that. If I see someone helping terroriss to affect my state in that case we will have to protest,” said the CM,” the West Bengal CM added.
Banerjee made these comments at an administrative meeting with top state officials.
Earlier on Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendhu Adhikari alleged that the West Bengal government was creating roadblocks in acquiring land for constructing BSF outposts along the Bangladesh border.
Notably, Bangladesh has the longest border with India. Out of the total border with Bangladesh, West Bengal is sharing a 2,272 km-long boundary with the neighbouring nation. The other India states that are sharing border with Bangladesh are – Assam, Tripura, Mizoram and Meghalaya.
