Kolkata: After Leader of OppositionSuvendu Adhikari’s comment of throwing Trinamool Congress (TMC)’s Muslim MLAs out of the Assembly after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power in West Bengal in 2026, Chief Minister on Wednesday slammed the saffron camp of using communal rhetoric.
“BJP always plays communal rhetoric. Protection of Hindus is also our duty not your responsibility alone. BJP is purposely making such statements during the month of Ramzan. Democracy is permanent but the chair is not. One should respect the chair. BJP through such comments is trying to divert the attention of the country from economic and trade collapse by making communal statements. I perform Kali puja at my residence for the last 42 years,” said Mamata.
Staging protests against the ruling party, BJP MLAs tore papers outside the Assembly gate.
Talking to the media, Suvendu Adhiukari said that the Chief Minister has proved herself that she is not in favor of the Hindus.
“She has proven that she is anti-Hindus twice. On the day of inauguration of Ram Mandir despite having an invitation she didn’t go but held a rally at Park Circus. Several TMC MLAs and MPs have taken holy dip at Maha Kumbh which she had called ‘Mrityu Kumbh’. I will do whatever is needed to protect the Hindus. She maintains silence when temples are destroyed,” said the Leader of the Opposition.
BJP state president and MoS Sukanta Majumdar said, “I haven’t spoken with Suvendu Adhikari yet, but BJP is for everyone. It means ‘Saab Ka Saath’, ‘Saab ka Vikas’. ‘Saab ka Prayas’.”
Meanwhile, TMC MLA Humayun Kabir had also threatened Adhikari that if he doesn’t withdraw his statement within 72 hours then he will have to face the consequence.
Replying to Kabir, Adhikari said, “Kabir along with 42 TMC minority MLAs can attack me. If one Suvendu dies, crores of Suvendu will be born.”
Bengal BJP general secretary Agni Mitra Paul slammed Kabir and said, “Have they forgotten what Kabir said about the members of Hindu community? He had threatened to throw them in the river Bhagirathi. There had never been any criticism from Trinamool Congress on that.”
