Kajol-Shahrukh Khan Song: Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar never fails to give a luxury touch to his films. His films have big sets and spectacular locations. A similar grand set was used in his 2001 film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’. There was a scene in the film where Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s characters are at a fair, after which a song starts. The song is ‘Suraj Hua Maddham’ which was shot in Egypt.

Yash Johar was a very passionate filmmaker

Director Nikhil Advani worked as an assistant in the film. He talked about the making of this film. He told how the film’s producer and Karan Johar’s father Yash Johar had worked hard for this song. He spent a lot of money for his son’s film.

Talking about Yash Johar, Nikhil said, ‘Just think what was Yash Johar’s idea. His idea was that when a film would end and there would be nothing on the screen, people would still applaud for his son three hours later. It was common for him to spend up to Rs 3 crore on a song. When we were making ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, 52 of us went to Egypt together to shoot just one song.

used the plane as a bus

Nikhil further said that ‘I and the entire team were flying all over Egypt to sing ‘Sooraj Hua Madham’. We used the plane as a bus that filmmaker Yash Johar had booked for us. It is not that Egypt is a small country. One location was in the west, the other in the east but we had a Boeing 737 aircraft. Which was waiting for us on the paved road, 52 of us would board it and come back. We were using it like a bus. Such was Yash Johar.

A long time ago, filmmaker Karan Johar had also narrated an interesting anecdote while talking about his father. He had told in Rani Mukherjee and Kajol’s talk show ‘Coffee with Karan’ that ‘I was shooting my first film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in Mehboob Studio. My father met actor Sanjay Dutt outside the studio and was talking to him. Sanjay asks him Yashji, what are you doing here? So he said, ‘My son has set up and now I am on the road.’
