Major Setback For Sena UBT As Spokesperson Sanjana Ghadi, Her Husband & Ex-Corporator Sanjay Ghadi Join Shinde Sena Ahead Of BMC Polls |

Mumbai: In a major blow to Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) ahead of the upcoming municipal elections, party spokesperson Sanjana Ghadi and her husband, former corporator Sanjay Ghadi, joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction on Sunday.

They were welcomed in the party by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde along with other senior leaders. This development comes after the Mahayuti alliance decisively defeated the Maha Vikas Aghadi in the recent Vidhan Sabha elections, further intensifying the political momentum in Maharashtra.

Sanjana Ghadi, considered a key figure in Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena in Mumbai, is a former corporator and has held the post of deputy leader within the party. Recently, Shiv Sena (UBT) had released a list of official spokespersons in which her name was initially excluded, sparking speculation about her dissatisfaction. Although her name was eventually added at the last moment, reports suggested she remained disgruntled with the party’s internal decisions.

The shift of loyalty was confirmed today as Ghadi announced her decision to quit the Thackeray faction and join the Shinde camp. Her husband Sanjay Ghadi will also be inducted into the party. A number of party workers aligned with the Ghadis reached to show their support.

Could Be A Big Jolt For Thackeray Camp?

Sanjana Ghadi’s departure is being seen as a major jolt for the Thackeray camp, especially given her prominence within the Mumbai wing of the party. With the municipal elections approaching, such high-profile exits could further weaken Uddhav Thackeray’s position and strengthen the Shinde faction’s hold in urban regions.

Reports quoting political observers note that the timing of the switch, just before the BMC elections, indicates strategic maneuvering by the Shinde faction to erode Thackeray’s base. The crossover also underscores growing unrest within the Thackeray camp, with internal discontent increasingly coming to light.
