Madhya Pradesh: Major Robbery Plotted At Jewellery Store In Bhopal, 7 Held | Representative Image
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The TT Nagar police apprehended seven persons within 24 hours after receiving information that they were planning to commit robbery at Modi Jewellers in Panchsheel Nagar. They were arrested on Sunday night. Their procession was taken out on Monday.
The accused have been identified as Santosh Lodhe (25), Umesh Chouhan (22), Shani Chouhan (19), Aditya Chouhan (20), Anand Chouhan (20), Monu Chouhan (20) and Sawan Thakur (19).
Following a tip off, a police team led by police station incharge Sudhir Arjaria raided a spot behind Platinum Plaza near a water tank, where the suspects were planning robbery.
They wanted to commit robbery to steal gold, silver, and cash during Eid and Navratri festival. Their goal was to get money for seeking anticipatory bail and leave city.
Accused tried to escape
On Sunday night as the police approached the spot, the accused tried to run away but were arrested, resulting in minor injuries during the chase. The officials seized an iron rod, knives, three daggers, a sword, and a motorcycle worth Rs 1.25 lakh.
The arrested accused had a history of committing violent crime with criminal records. Two of them had snatched mobile phone while the other had attacked resident Kapil Yadav.
