Mumbai: The Phoenix Market City Mall in Kurla was engulfed in thick smog as a fire broke out in the mall. The incident was reported around 9.45 pm on Thursday and the blaze started on the food court located on the first floor.
As per information received from Mumbai Fire Brigade’s control, the fire erupted from the electric duct on the first floor of the mall. The food court of the mall is located on the first floor. The lengthy Phoenix Market City Mall in Kurla has two lower ground floors and a top floor.
The fire brigade has declared the fire at Level 1 and situation is under control as of 10.50 pm. No injuries have been reported so far.
The disaster control room of the BMC informed that the people stranded in the have been evacuated and ventilation system has been started. The mall in logged with smoke, however situation is under control, the public relations department of the BMC informed.
Locals say that the incidents has created massive traffic jam on the LBS Road. The mall is located on the congested LBS Road between Vidyavihar and Kurla areas.
Staff from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, Police, ward office and an ambulance are deployed on the spot.
