Immediately after taking over the reins of the ministry of transport, Pratap Sarnaik paid a surprise visit to the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation’s (MSRTC) Khopat bus depot in Thane on Sunday. Sarnaik inspected the various divisions of the bus depot in order to review the amenities which were being made available to passengers.
“Today, I visited the Khopat bus depot to review passenger services and employee facilities. Standing instructions were issued to officials to enhance amenities including- clean restrooms, waiting areas, and drinking water facilities at the depot to ensure a more comfortable and convenient travel experience for commuters. This apart from making needed arrangements to create a work-friendly atmosphere for staffers. The Transport Ministry is committed towards making the public transport system efficient, accessible, and convenient for everyone across Thane and Maharashtra. Coordination with the administration will be ensured for the prompt implementation of these measures.” said Sarnaik who was sworn-in as the cabinet minister in the recently concluded winter session of the state assembly in Nagpur on 15, December and was allocated the Ministry of Transport on Saturday.
A four-time legislator, Sarnaik represents the Ovala-Majiwada (146) assembly constituency which covers parts of Thane, Mira Road and Bhayandar.
