The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has announced that students seeking additional marks under the sports category must submit their applications by April 15. This directive is in line with the Board’s plan to declare the results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations by May 15.
This year, board examinations commenced 10 to 15 days earlier than usual, prompting the MSBSHSE to expedite the results declaration process. As part of its policy, the Board offers students the opportunity to earn up to 15 extra marks in their overall score for outstanding performance in extracurricular activities, including sports and arts.
According to an official press release issued by the State Board Secretary, Dr Madhuri Savarkar, students appearing for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations are eligible to receive additional marks for achievements in sports, the National Cadet Corps (NCC), and the scout guide programme.
Typically, proposals for these additional marks are submitted by April 30 each year; however, due to the revised schedule for the 2024-2025 academic year, the deadline has been brought forward to April 15.
Dr Savarkar further clarified that sports-related proposals must be submitted online by the District Sports Officer, while applications for NCC and scout guide achievements must be submitted online by the Secondary Education Officer to the respective Divisional Boards.
Given the advanced timeline, all concerned stakeholders, including District Sports Officers, Secondary Education Officers, school principals, junior college principals, teachers, students, and parents, have been urged to take prompt action to ensure compliance with the revised submission deadlines.
The early commencement of exams and declaration of results aims to facilitate timely academic planning for students pursuing further education or career opportunities.
