Mumbai: The Skill Development Department is committed to offering world-class skill training to the youth of Maharashtra, equipping them with the skills needed for global job opportunities. As part of this initiative, plans are in motion to set up a Global Skill Center in the state, inspired by the successful model of Singapore.

On Thursday, Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha held discussions with Singapore’s Consul General Ong Ming Fung at the Mantralay to advance this plan. Minister Lodha emphasized that training in globally recognized trades will begin as soon as the necessary legal procedures are completed.

During the meeting, Consul General Ong Ming Fung reviewed several vocational training programs being conducted across Maharashtra and expressed his satisfaction with the Skill Development Department’s progress. He also confirmed his support for collaborating to deliver top-tier skill training to Maharashtra’s youth.

The meeting was attended by Madhavi Sardeshmukh, Director of Vocational Education and Training; Anil Sonawane, Additional CEO of the Skill Development Society; and Kaustubh Dhavse, Special Officer to the Chief Minister.

The Institute of Technical Education Services (ITEES) in Singapore offers skill development courses that cater to the needs of global industries. This collaboration will provide Maharashtra’s youth with opportunities to gain practical experience in multinational company projects and exposure to cutting-edge technologies such as robotics, AI, industrial systems, and services training.

The Global Skill Center in Singapore delivers internationally recognized training, opening up global employment prospects for its students. Minister Lodha noted that the discussions with Consul General Ong Ming Fung were productive, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will soon be signed to formalize this partnership.
