Amid rising tensions over Aurangzeb’s tomb in the state, two youths from Rabale and Uran have been found posting photos of Aurangzeb and his tomb on their Instagram accounts, along with praise-filled captions. The posts went viral, allegedly attempting to incite religious sentiments. Taking note of the incident, the Rabale and Uran police have registered cases against both individuals for attempting to create discord between religious groups and disturbing public peace. Further action against them has been initiated.

In Rabale, a youth named Rafique Qureshi posted a video on March 19, featuring a photo of Aurangzeb and his tomb, along with a caption praising him. The video was set as his Instagram status. This came to the attention of Tejas Patil, a resident of Ghansoli, who, along with his associates, filed a written complaint at the Rabale police station on Friday.

Similarly, in Uran, Aftab Abdul Wahid Qureshi (24) posted a photo of Aurangzeb on his Instagram account at 9:30 p.m. on March 20, with the caption “King of Hindustan H. Aurangzeb Alamgir.” Additionally, he posted a picture of himself holding a sword. Following this, Siddhesh Shinde filed a complaint at the Uran police station.

Rabale police have registered a case against Rafique Qureshi, while the Uran police have booked Aftab Abdul Wahid Qureshi for hurting religious sentiments, attempting to create communal discord, and disturbing public peace. “We have served a notice, and further investigations are ongoing,” said Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Misal from Uran Police Station.
